Fairview Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1855, just 19 years after Arkansas became the 25th state. We joined the Saline Baptist Association with 8 other new churches at the time. In the 1850s the area was growing rapidly and was known as the Hurricane Township.
By 1859, Fairview Church had 32 members and was steadily growing. In 1861, the church joined the Pine Bluff Association, at that time, John Walters was the Pastor and James Ball was the Church clerk.
After the Civil War, Fairview met in a log school house near the site of present day Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and Fairview had grown to 81 in membership. The church merged in 1873 with another local body, Gum Springs Church, and built a new building near Fairview's present location.
Fairview continued to grow and was one of the largest members of the Pine Bluff Association. With great revivals, such as the one in 1887 where 29 souls were converted to the Lord, by 1890 the membership had reached 154. The dear names and members are far too many to list, but suffice to say many great servants of the Lord have been members of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church and still are to today. Many remember Sister Era Young, who served as Church Clerk from 1932 to 1980.
The current Pastor, Dr. Paul R Carter, has led the congregation for the last 30 years. Fairview is also the sponsoring Church for CABBI, (Central Arkansas Bible Baptist Institute) where Pastors of Gods present and future churches further their knowledge of Gods Word.
